Si Maggs - Bass / Acoustic Guitars
Si’s musical journey began at primary school, (we're still trying to find the photo's of him in shorts !! ) playing the recorder and singing in the choir. At high school he learned trumpet and played in the school orchestra. At the same time, he got his first guitar and could often be found bunking off games in one of the music rooms, playing guitar or piano with his mates, attempting to produce the next great concept album!
His music taste is wide and varied – anything from Albinoni to ZZ Top, with a plenty of Prog Rock, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classical and Traditional Music thrown in.
His Bass heroes include Chris Squire (Yes), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), John Entwhistle (The Who), Geddy Lee (Rush) and James Jamerson (The Funk Brothers - Motown’s studio band in the 60’s).
The Kit !!
Si plays a Fender Jazz Bass and uses Gallien-Kreuger Amplification. He also uses a drop-tuned Yamaha RBX Bass for a few songs.
Si is now venturing into the dark side and also playing 6 string acoustic guitar on a Fender Stratacouster..
